Ryhall United 1 Huncote Sports 0

RYHALL United’s Leicester Shield cup run continues after a late Wes Da Silva strike clinched a 1-0 win over Huncote Sports.

The teams were evenly matched throughout the game but when Eddy Pentney found himself one on one with the goalkeeper he looked set to give United the lead only for the Huncote keeper to pull off a magnificent save.

John Feetham was Ryhall’s keeper for the day, standing in for the absent Jimmy Russon, and was in top form, twice denying Huncote from close range.

As the game wore on both teams became more adventurous, looking for the opening goal. But with both keepers in such good form neither looked like being beaten as time and again they took turns in pulling off acrobatic saves.

With the form of Feetham and Stuart Moss marshalling Ryhall’s solid defence excellently it allowed United to push forward looking for a late breakthrough.

With just five minutes remaining a Phil Bartlett strike, heading into the bottom corner was again palmed away by the visiting keeper.

But from the resulting corner he was finally beaten. Da Silva was picked out by a low cross from Ant Sheehan to smash a ferocious shot into the top corner.
