Stamford sign Leicester City teenager with Europa League experience

Stamford AFC manager Andrew Wilson has raided the Leicester City Academy, with whom he previously worked, to bring in one of the club’s most exciting young strikers on loan.

The Daniels have signed 18-year-old Aaron Hassall, who has a professional contract with The Foxes who spent a five figure sum to sign him last year from Welsh Premier League side Airbus UK Broughton.

The teenager watched the Daniels lose 2-1 to Halesowen Town on Tuesday from the sidelines and will be in the squad which travel to Ashton United tomorrow.

Before moving to Leicester, where he has been pushing for a starting berth in the club’s successful U21 side, Hassall made eight Welsh Premier appearances for Airbus and became the league’s youngest goal scorer when he found the back of the net in Airbus’ final game of the 2013-14 season against Carmarthen Town.

He has also been selected to play for Wales at Under-17, Under-18 and most recently Under-19 level.

At the age of 16 Hassall became one of the youngest-ever players to appear in the Europa League, matching the likes of Raheem Sterling and Romelu Lukaku who have both gone on to do pretty impressive things.

He made a 30-minute debut off the bench for Airbus in the second leg of the first qualifying away at Norwegian side FK Haugesund in July last year, losing 2-1.
