GOALS were scare for teams in the Stamford area on Saturday.

The Daniels were held to a goalless draw at Romulus in the West Midlands, although the point won was enough to ensure Stamford remain fourth in the Evo-Stik League First Division South.

In the Chromasport and Trophies United Counties League Premier Division, Deeping Rangers maintained their good run of form with a 1-0 victory at Stewarts and Lloyds in Corby. Matt Heron scored the only goal of the game.

Rangers moved up to seventh, just two places and one point behind Blackstones, who lost 1-0 at Yaxley on Saturday.

In the UCL first division, Bourne Town lost 4-1 at the Abbey Lawn to high-flying Bugbrooke St Michaels.

The Wakes were 4-0 down before Scott McKenzie scored late on for Bourne.

Cottesmore’s future in the Leicestershire Senior League’s top flight looks in danger following a 1-0 defeat to Sileby at Rogues Park. Time is running out for the Rutland side to save their Premier Division status.

One team that did pick up vital points in their battle to avoid the drop was Oakham United in the Peterborough and District League’s Premier Division.

Oakham won 3-1 at Oundle courtesy of two Craig Welbourn goals and a strike from Jamie Saddington.

Oakham’s victory does nothing to help Uppingham Town who are also at the wrong end of the table and lost 3-0 at Coates Athletic on Saturday.

There are new leaders however after King’s Cliffe were beaten 5-2 at Netherton United. Gary Gibbs scored twice for Cliffe. Deeping Rangers Reserves were also beaten at the weekend, losing 3-0 at home to Moulton Harrox

Langtoft United slip to third in the second tier after a rare home defeat, losing 2-1 at home to Netherton United Reserves. Callum Fox was on target for Langtoft.

Elsewhere in the division, Ketton lost 1-0 away at Moulton Harrox Reserves, and Stamford Bels lost 3-0 at home to leaders Stilton United.
