Bourne Town FC will hope to pick up their first win of the season when they face unbeaten Peterborough Sports at the Abbey Lawn this evening.
After a draw on the opening day, The Wakes were under par on Saturday when they lost 4-1 at Raunds.
Tonight they take on a Sports side that has beaten Rothwell Corinthians 3-1 and Buckingham Town 2-0 to pick up maximum points from their opening two matches.
“We need to get something from tonight’s game,” Wakes boss Darren Munton said this morning.
Munton, who is on crutches after picking up an ankle injury playing for Rutland Vets on Sunday, has called for an improvement on Saturday’s performance at Raunds.
He said: “Individual errors cost us. There are no excuses. We gifted them all four goals.”
Bourne were three down at the break with strikes from interval with goals from Karl King in the 20th and 30th minutes, and a third from Alex Wills in the 35th.
The Wakes switched to 4-3-3 and Seb Hood pulled one back on the hour, finishing a route one move with a low finish into the corner.
But a Raunds penalty, converted by King for his hat-trick, sealed the result 20 minutes later.
Bourne will be without Dan Smith, Richard Nelson and Matt Holland for this evening’s Abbey Lawn clash. Kick off is at 7.45pm.
Alec Robinson, who has rejoined Bourne, remains ineligible to play while his transfer from Boston Town is processed.
