Wakes undone by Wanderers

Burton Park Wanderers 4 Bourne 1

SECOND-best Bourne surrendered after taking early lead through a well-placed close-range header from Seb Hood on Saturday.

Hood put the ball in the net after tricky skills from Brazilian, Icky Leopoldino.

But within five minutes of Bourne’s 24th minute opener the visitors were trailing to a deflected shot from Jack Wisniewski and a simple finish from Curtis Taylor-Jacob who slotted home after a mix up in the Bourne defence.

Two second-half goals showed the difference in class on an away day to forget for Bourne who had moved up the league due to their recent revival.

The Wakes have three tough games to conclude the season: Sileby, Huntingdon and leader’s Kempston who could leave Bourne looking over their shoulder at the improving Buckingham and Potton at the foot of the table.

Bourne: Dan Jarman, Aaron Jesson, Seb Hood, Tom Cardall, Johnnie Currall (Nico Staffieri), Guiliano Staffieri, Andy Moss, Dan Mason, Ikharo Leopoldino, Jack Humphries, Alex Brockbank (Tom Dunn).
