Gedney Hill 3 Ryhall United 5

RYHALL United moved to the summit of Division 2 after winning 5-3 away at Gedney Hill.

United put Gedney Hill under pressure from the opening whistle and when Ricky Pozella was felled in the area after 10 minutes they had the opportunity to take an early lead. Pozella, however, smashed the spot kick against the post.

But it was not long before he atoned for his miss, turning in Danny Sheehan’s low cross to give Ryhall a well deserved lead a few minutes later.

United continued to dominate but failed to capitalise. Michael Webb put his effort just wide before an offside flag ruled out a second Pozella goal.

Ryhall were punished for their missed chances as a rare Gedney Hill attack ended in an equaliser.

Ryhall were back in front just two minutes after the break thanks to a brave diving header from Jonny Hewing.

Minutes later Pozella was again brought down in the area and this time he rifled the ball into the bottom corner.

Again the home side hit back, capitalising on a mix-up in the Ryhall defence to scramble the ball home from close range.

Gedney put Ryhall under pressure but the defence stood firm as both sides searched for the crucial next goal.

As Webb dribbled into the Gedney box a wild lunge took his legs away and Pozella sealed his hat-trick with Ryhall’s third penalty of the match.

Pozella then scored his fourth with a neat finish to secure the valuable 3 points for Ryhall. Gedney Hill did pull a goal back a minute before the final whistle but the win was safe.
