‘Good signs for Bourne despite loss’ says coach Lindley
MIDLANDS FOUR EAST (SOUTH): Birstall 50 Bourne 20
Bourne joint-coach Nigel Lindley was pleased with his side’s efforts at Leicestershire club Birstall despite suffering their fourth league loss in a row.
Winger John Hume ran in two tries for Bourne before tiredness and inferior fitness led to Birstall scoring several late tries.
Lindley said: “The Rugby World Cup has hit us quite hard but we managed to cobble together a back line and scored three tries against a very fast Birstall team.
“They were very strong and moved the ball very quickly, but the scoreline was slightly distorted as Birstall scored quite a few of their points in the last period of the game due to the work we’d put in before.”
Lindley also praised the consistent kicking of winger Adam Binns and admitted that both he and fellow coach John Forbes were optimistic for the weeks ahead.
We continue to be surprised by some of the good stuff we’re starting to do
He added: “We continue to be surprised by some of the good stuff we’re starting to do and if we can get everybody together in the right place, at the right time, we’ll surprise a few teams.”
