Regals register first century of campaign against Stamford Town
It’s now four out of four for Greetham in this year’s Boor and Wainwright round robin competition.
Only Bourne Eau, who they visit to play in their last match today (Friday), can stop them from making a clean sweep in what must be their best ever start to the new season.
The villagers, captained by Don McGarrigle, got their fourth win by 86-39 against Market Deeping Regis who unfortunately had to compete two players short.
Good news however for Deeping’s top team, the Regals, who notched up the first century of the season against Stamford Town with their rink of Richard Smith, Dave Roberts and Chris Bines scoring 43 of the shots.
There was celebration as well for Ketton Kingfishers captain Bob Warters with his team getting their first win of the season against Division One rivals Oakham A.
The honours went to Bob, who took out five on the 20th end, and John Little whose rink scored a two on the last end to gain an overall victory by just two shots.
Congratulations also to Greetham Valley Robins whose 18-shot start helped them to 80-55 win away to Stamford Town C.
Blackstones C maintained their unbeaten run with a win over Oakham Owls and remain on course to retain their title but, with the handicapping system working as it should in this pre league season competition, who knows.
With one match to be played by each team the leaders, with the name of Greetham prominent, are in each group: Group One - Greetham Valley Robins, Group Two - Greetham, Group Three - Greetham Valley Eagles, Group Four - Blackstones C, Group Five - Wittering, Group Six - Colsterworth.
