A super six-wicket haul from Michael Jones helped Burghley Park to a cracking 10-wicket success against Hunts League Division One promotion-chasers Bharat Sports on Saturday.

Jones returned 6-19 from an emphatic eight-over spell as Burghley bowled out their visitors for just 78.

Oliver Lane provided useful support with 3-20 to help blitz Bharat whose top scorers were opener Fardin Satari with 30 and Steve Taylor's 22.

Burghley then made light work of the run chase as they took just 14.3 overs to reach the required target.

Tom Banham blasted an unbeaten 57 while Michael Hobbiss was unbeaten on 22 as Burghley breezed past their third-placed visitors.

Barnack consolidated their spot in the Division Two promotion places after a 24-run away success at Waresley 2nds.

An unbeaten 67 from Shahid Muhammed helped Barnack post 167-3 from a rain-affected 33 overs.

Tahseen Ahmed made 44 while Gary Scotcher struck 20 to leave Waresley chasing a rervised target of 106.

However, they could only muster 81-9 in their reply with man-of-the-match Muhammed taking 3-16 from five overs. Steve Best was also in fine form in the field for Barnack with two catches and two run outs.

Burghley Park 2nds suffered an eight-wicket away loss at Division Four table-toppers Werrington.

They were bowled out for 134 by their hosts with James Biggs hitting 26 and Simon Sherwin striking a half-century.

Muhammad Jahangir then led the home side's victory charge with 63 despite Paul Simmons and Joe Evans collecting a wicket each for Burghley.

Easton-on-the-Hill produced a plucky effort with nine players making the trip to Ickwell who ran out winners by two wickets.

The visitors made 190-8 off their 45 overs with Ickwell successfully chasing down the target with seven overs to spare.
