After two years of battling with covid lockdowns and restrictions, Stamford Junior Knights were finally able to hold their first home basketball tournament at the weekend.

Two Under 12 sides from the Knights competed against Lincoln Lightning with each team playing two friendly games.

The afternoon was very well received with full support from players, coaches and parents alike.

For many of the players this was their first experience of playing in a competitive environment.

All players put 100 per cent effort in and didn’t become disheartened when down on points and continued to battle to try to bring the game back to an even playing field.

All players received participation certificates to mark the occasion and trophies and medals were handed out for most valuable player, sportsman and defensive players.

Together, Stamford Junior Knights and Lincoln Lightning Juniors continue to build a positive basketball community within the county.
