Stamford tie FA Trophy tussle, Deeping Rangers progress in Kitman UK League Cup

A late leveller denied the Daniels victory in Tuesday night's FA Trophy tie at Halesowen Town.

Yeltz top scorer Montel Gibson struck in the 89th minute of the first qualifying round clash to earn the hosts a 2-2 draw and a replay at the Zeeco Stadium on Tuesday night to earn the right to host Grantham Town.

Stamford - who were playing their first game in 17 days - had found themselves behind after just three minutes through Robbie Bunn's opener for their Southern League Division One Central hosts.

However, Olly Brown-Hill got the Daniels back on level terms three minutes before half-time and then Tom Siddons headed home a Harry Vince cross to put Stamford ahead after 70 minutes before Gibson's late leveller.

Stamford manager Graham Drury said: "I was chuffed with the lads. We had to travel miles to a very tough place.

"After going 1-0 behind after only three minutes, the lads put a shift in to earn the draw."

Deeping Rangers were 4-1 away winners on Tuesday night against Irchester in the Kitman UK League Cup.

Dan Jarvis, David Burton-Jones, Jack Gurney and the fit-again Jason Kilbride were among the scorers for the Clarets who now travel to Premier Division leaders Shepshed Dynamo in the quarter-finals.

Blackstones host Premier Division side Holbeach United tonight (Wednesday) with the winners entertaining Melton Town in the last eight.
