Market Overton continued their winning ways with a victory over local rivals Uppingham in the Rutland League Division Two clash on Sunday.
Playing at home, Marko batted first andwe’re all out for 156.
However Uppingham couldn’t beat that total as they could only muster 109 all out.
It leaves Marko at the top of the table and Uppingham in third.
Marko got off to a good start with Adam Clark (32) and Mark Hudson (eight) opening their innings.
Brian Makwana (49) top scored as Marko pushed on to 136 runs for four wickets, but the introduction of Scott Green changed the game taking three wickets for 23. Marko then lost six wickets for just 20 runs.
Tom Wharton, taking two wickets for no runs, closed Marko’s innings leaving them on 156.
In reply Uppingham struggled from the start losing Martin Bennett for 16, quickly followed by Jamie Dumford (9) and it was mainly due to excellent bowling from Paul Thwaites (three for 36).
Mark Cox (23) and top scorer Max Collins (27) steadied the Uppingham innings, but after their loss to bowler Mark Hudson (three for nine), Uppingham collapsed all out for just 109.
Marko’s wicket keeper Adam Clark took two good stumpings and two catches and Brian Makwana claimed two wickets for 17 runs in this comfortable win for Marko.
