Best bidding to take on British and world champions in next outing

Rutland’s Martin Best and passenger George Slater marked their return to sidecar racing by regaining their national license at Donington Park last weekend.

Martin, from Gunthorpe, near Oakham, was involved in a serious sidecar accident while testing in Spain in 2005.

And, due to his injuries and work commitments abroad, Martin retired from racing the same year.

But he has now made his return to sidecar racing this year with a Formula One Suzuki 1000cc powered outfit.

The team had to compete in 10 racing events to gain their national licences after such a long break from racing.

This was achieved at Donington Park last weekend and Martin would like to thank Ecosse Consulting for their financial support and CES Engineering for preparing the sidecar for racing.

Martin's next race will be at the Lincolnshire circuit of Cadwell Park where he will be racing with the Bemsee Motorcycle Club and will be on the grid with some of the top sidecar teams which will include British and world champions.
