Andy Vernon produced a top performance to win Rutland County’s June Midweek Medal shooting 78-8-70 to just pip persistent newcomer Ian Rice on 87-16-71.

Captain Kev Moxham finally showed some of last season’s form for third spot with 83-10-73.

County Ladies are well into the season’s fixtures with Bridget Yardley and Jenny Cobb qualifying for the regional finals of the Australian Spoons which will be staged at Matlock GC on Monday.

Gill Glenister won the May Medal with a net 77 and Maureen Walsh triumphed in the 9 hole event.

Karen Collins won the Stableford competition with 33 points. Pauline Knight claimed the Midweek Stableford on 34 points with Wendy Bryan winning the 9 hole event.

l County’s B team put Stoke Albany to the sword 6½ to 1½.

Division one of the Seniors Stableford was won by Cliff Knapp with 39 points. David Wilson was second on 34.

Division two was won by Mike Reynolds with 35 points, one point ahead of runner-up Bill Ansell.

Kevin Whittle, Ron Jenkins and Joe Smith won the 2 from 3 competition with 83 pts. Mike Frankish, Nick Lewis and Ron Snape were second with 79 pts.
