The recent cooler weather conditions seem to have helped spread the resident Eyebrook fish stocks away from the main basin, as some top quality rainbows are now being taken from the shallows at Stoke Dry on dry flies.

Tony Tibbert, of Market Overton and Stuart Bilsdon, of Uppingham enjoyed their latest boat outing and took 14 rainbows for 28lb 5oz on dries. Tony and Stuart also returned six more decent rainbows.

The Eyebrook hosted its boat match and barbecue recently and the day was enjoyed by all who participated.

Blind pairs decided the winners, Shaun Marriott and Mick Bennett, runners-up were Adrian Burrell and Matt Ashworth and in third place were Tim Polito and John Morris.

The next Eyebrook Fly Fishers Club meeting will be held at the Eyebrook fishing lodge on Wednesday, September 4. Trevor Ashby will be demonstrating how to tie floating fry patterns and daddy long legs imitations.

All are welcome and entry is free at The Eyebrook summer fair on Saturday, August 31, 10am-4pm. It will feature country arts and crafts, displays of fish smoking, fly-tying demonstrations, falconry display and refreshments. All Proceeds to The English Disabled Fly Fishers Association.
