Bourne banger racing driver David Gibson was crowned world champion on Saturday night.
Victory in the Two-Litre Banger Shale World Championship at the Norfolk Arena, King’s Lynn, was the biggest success of his career to date.
Gibson said: “I’m a bit lost for words really. It was definitely the hardest race I’ve been in. It was hard but we got through. I picked the car with the lowest mileage in the yard – 101,000.”
Gibson’s team-mate Jonny Atkin, also from Bourne, led much of the race but Gibson claimed victory on the final bend by going past Kent’s John Reeves.
