STAMFORD’s Luke Owen recorded his third victory in impressive style at Burton Latimer on Friday.

The 16-year-old, in his fourth bout, beat Felix Aves of Corby ABC by forcing a third round stoppage.

Tall and rangy, Owen put his shorter opponent on the back foot in the opening round with a series of long jabs to the body.

The Stamford ABC boxer took the Corby fighter by surprise with a switch of attacks and an amazing left hook in the second round which resulted in a standing eight count.

Owen saw the opportunity to win and upped his workrate. He forced another standing eight count in the third round and the referee stopped the fight.

Head coach Rick Green said: “Luke is putting all the hard work in at the gym and deserves the results he is getting.”

Owen’s next fight is on April 5 at Corby.
