In the Stamford and Rutland Table Tennis League, loose ends are beginning to be tied up.
Braunston ‘A’ remain strong contenders in both the First Division Plate and the Ketco Plate competitions, and this week defeated Uffington CC ‘A’ 5-3 in the latter.
Uffington welcomed back Ray Tong, and, although he enjoyed a win and added to Trevor Carter’s brace, two wins for both Carl Slevin and Chuck Kershaw meant that the villagers moved forward into the semi-final.
Stamford School opened their account in the First Division Plate with a 6-3 win at Stamford Free Church. It was an enjoyable match during which every player enjoyed at least one win.
The Division Two title has still to be decided, but Tallington ‘A’ eased above Eastfield ‘C’ with a 6-4 win at Bourne ‘A’.
Paul Ramm continued his fine season with three wins for Tallington, while Clive and Harry Jackson each won twice for Bourne. Ramm’s victory with Richard Allen secured maximum points for the visitors to keep the pressure on the Peterborough club.
