BOURNE Bullets weekly coaching sessions come to an end for the year last weekend although the monthly group sessions around Bourne Wood will continue throughout the year.

The youth section of Bourne Wheelers has 40 members, an increase on last year’s membership, and has fielded teams in local and national events throughout the year.

The team have dominated the Lincolnshire Cyclo-Cross League again this year, not only in results but in the number of competitors, and the team also took part in road racing events for the first time this year.

They regularly placed highly in events with their top road rider of the year, Sian Botteley, gaining selection for the East Midlands Division in the Inter Regional Championships in Scotland.

In time trials, the older riders have raced in the club 10 series, beating the senior riders in the club on many occasions with all the riders recording one personnel best after another.

The team aims to continue their progress and will be out in force in the National School 10 mile event next year.

Bourne Bullet prize winners for 2011: Tim James (Points), Adam Botteley (Attendance Trophy), Dan Burton (Quickest rider over the National Skills Course) and Maddie Gammons (Brewster Cup, for the most improved rider).
