The organisers of the world-famous Burghley Horse Trials say this year’s event is on course to be the best ever.

The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials will take place from September 5 t0 8, and as usual, the world’s best horses and riders will take part.

Visitors will also get the chance to see former racehorses in action in the main arena on Sunday, September 8.

For the first time a qualifier for the Racehorse to Riding Horse Show Championship will be held at the trials, giving spectators the chance to see how re-schooled ex-racehorses can go on to be successful in the show ring.

Away from the sporting competitions, Burghley’s renowned shopping areas are sure to prove a magnet for thousands of people.

There will be more than 600 tradestands and six themed shopping pavilions – ranging from Burghley Lifestyle to World of the Horse, together with foodie shopping in Burghley FoodWalk.

Event director Elizabeth Inman, said: “All the signs are that this year’s event will be the best yet.

“We have carefully selected a superb range of tradestands ranging from the elegant and exclusive to the entertaining and practical – all befitting their breathtaking setting.

“The competition itself looks set to be very exciting, with top-class riders from around the world vying with one another for the title and we are privileged to welcome back the military dog display by the Defence Animal Centre as one of our main arena attractions.”

Tickets are on sale through the booking office at Burghley-horse.co.uk and the official Facebook page will keep everyone up to date with news.
