Burghley Park junior organiser John Mayman is looking forward to a successful year in 2014.
The strong group of players which had such a good year in 2013 is largely unchanged, and Mayman is expecting an influx of new players to bolster an already strong side.
As part of this, free coaching for under-18 golfers in the Stamford area is being organised at Burghley on Saturdays and Sundays throughout March.
Attendees need not be members of Burghley Park GC, and anyone interested is asked to contact Mark Jackson in the Pro Shop on 01780 753789, option 1.
The first event of the Juniors’ season is an away match at Sleaford on April 9.
The February Seniors’ coffee morning attracted 49 players for a three-ball Stableford am-am competition over nine holes, played on a rare dry and sunny day.
With the best two scores to count on each hole, scoring was good.
In the end, countback was required to separate first and second places, with Chris Harrison-Smith, Anne Harrison-Smith and Jenny Walsh taking the win with 43 points by virtue of a better last six score. David Ford, Steven Brereton-Martin and new member Michael Wright claimed second.
Margaret Middleton organised a charity raffle on behalf of The On Course Foundation, seniors’ captain Bob Collier’s charity for the year, which raised £83.
