Rutland County’s 2012 champion Michael Pressick has topped off his season with a hole-in-one on the 176-yard, par three 4th at the course.

Competing in the second leg of the Bogey Stableford Medal Winter Trophy, Pressick selected his 8-iron, flew the ball past the pin from where it span it back into the hole.

There was another notable achievement on the same hole for Bob Ambrose who managed to make his par after shattering the ladies red tee marker with his first shot – club selection was not disclosed.

The BSM Stableford event saw some old hands manouevre into position for a final challenge next week.

Craig Allan amassed 45 points, just ahead of Peter Siciliano’s 44 points with Pete Maksymiw and Cliff Knapp just three points further back. Helped by his ace at the fourth for four points, Michael Pressick scored a useful 40 and is a likely bet for the overall event.

l The Fehnert Senior Winter series has got off to a cracking start for Rutland County stalwart Arthur Dethick who shattered the field with his 41 points, fully five clear of visiting golfers Mike Paulson, Colin Griffiths, Colin Pearce and Paul Groves all on 36.

County members Dave Whitehead and Colin Brown are lurking just one point further back.

l Twenty-seven seniors took to the fairways for the Thursday roll-up competition, which took the format of 2 from 3.

Runaway victors with 86 points were Kevin Whittle, Geoff Osborne and Alan Garner

Veteran Joe Smith scored a staggering 25 points to win the 9-hole, 3-club challenge prior to the seniors’ annual meeting.

His score included a blob, leaving just eight scoring holes for his tally. Joe is considering leaving his 11 other clubs at home in the future.
