OAKHAM Angling Club fished their annual Midweek Invitation match on Fen Lake Fisheries at Metheringham near Sleaford.
Eighteen anglers turned out at the lake on a beautiful summer’s day and together they managed to put 1,600lb of fish on the scales at an average of 88lb each with eight weights over 100lb.
The match was won by James Daymond, who recorded 140lb 09oz from peg 4. Second, off peg 10, was Paul Smith with 130lb, and third was organiser Bob Burton with 126lb 15 oz. Sections were won by Chris Parsons and Bubby Gray.
On Sunday the Oakham roadshow moved to Shearsby Fisheries where the weights were quite disappointing with the venue not reaching its full potential.
In first place was Alan Wiggins who weighed in 47lb 3oz using his favourite paste. Second place went to the club’s oldest member Pete Dickenson who showed some of the younger members the way by weighing in 42lb 12oz of carp caught on meat. Third place went to another veteran angler, Bob MacBeath who weighed in 41lb 3oz.
