RUTLAND swimmers were among a team of 12 from Melton Mowbray Swimming Club who competed at the City of Leicester Open in April.
The local competitors gave an excellent performance with personal best times and club records being achieved across the three days.
Rutland school boy Sam Kirkland set new personal bests in all four events he entered: 50m and 100m free style, and club records of 2.07.39 in the 200m free and 1.07.35 in 100m backstroke.
Sam’s 200m free time was also a Midland’s Qualification time.
Guy Mousley took the club record for 200m fly with a time of 2.30.68 gaining fifth spot for his age in addition to achieving PBs in three events - 100m and 200m free ,and 100m butterfly.
Charlotte Christie achieved a new 100m freestyle personal best of 1.14.71.
Lauren Boland claimed the club’s only outright victory of the meeting, winning the 200m breaststroke with a new club record. She also took third place in the 100m breaststroke final and qualified for the finals of for the 100m 15 and over freestyle final.
