UPPINGHAM’s Stuart Bilsdon and Tony Tibbert of Market Overton have been among the anglers enjoying great catches at Eyebrook Reservoir recently.
Drifting the main basin, fishing daddies, Stuart and Tony caught 18 fish between them.
Eyebrook veteran Ceth Mauger, from Leicester, is another to claim good weights with a limit bag of eight rainbows from the Sams Dyke area. He boat fished with a conventional floating line using the washing line method to devastating effect and caught most of his fish on Black buzzers.
The most successful fly patterns at present include Damsel Nymph, Black Holo Buzzers, Pheasant Tail Nymph, Diawl Bach, Crunchers, Gold Ribbed Hares Ear Nymph, and Silver Invicta. By far the best tactics for both bank and boat anglers are dry flies, which are taking plenty of top quality grown-on fish. Patterns such as Fiery Brown Bobs Bits, Brown Daddies and CDC Emergers are the order of the day.
The Leicestershire bank, especially The Bell and The Hawthorns are still fishing extremely well and huge shoals of Roach and Perch have been finding refuge in the weed beds.
With the evenings slowly drawing in, evening boat fishing is available from 4pm until dusk for £10. For details call Eyebrook Fishing Lodge on 01536 772930.
