KETTON Tennis Club players have enjoyed great success at the Hunstanton Tennis Tournament.
The competition includes entrants from 8 years old to veterans and is played over seven days on 40 grass courts with more than 1,200 players entering.
Ketton’s Martin Gillam won the over 35s singles competition, defeating a player from Sheffield in a hard fought final 6-4 6-2. His wife Mandy also reached a final but was defeated in the over 45s Ladies singles by Carol Wilson of Stamford Tennis Club who proved too strong and won 6-1 6-1.
Kate Neal and Angela Wheeler played some good tennis in their ladies doubles before being beaten by the eventual winners.
Jim Wheeler and his partner from Lincoln retained the men’s over 55 doubles title which they won last year, beating a Norfolk pair in the final 6-1 6-3.
Ketton Tennis Club has had a good season in the Hunts and Peterborough Leagues and the majority of its seven teams will remain in the same leagues for the 2012 season.
The winter season starts from the beginning of September and new members are welcome.
The club’s subscription of £35 allows full use of the three carpet covered courts and the floodlight court until the end of March 2012.
