John Fursdon has had a brilliant last five weeks of golf, winning the last three medal competitions played at North Luffenham Golf Club.
In the Sunday medal for February, he won the Division One competition with a net score of 71, playing off a handicap of 12, closely followed home by Don Lambert scoring 72, off 18, with Richard Young in third with a score of 74, off 13.
Division Two winner was Fred Baxter, scoring a net 78, playing off 22. He was followed by Ian Duncan on 80, off 19, with John Everitt back in third place with a score of 81, off 19.
John Fursdon, again, won the February midweek medal with a magnificent net 69, playing off a handicap of 12.
The competition was played in atrocious conditions. Way back in second place was Don Lambert scoring an impressive 73, off 18, and Richard Young was third with 74, off 13.
To complete his hat-trick of wins, John Fursdon topped the leader board in the Sunday Medal Division One, with a high score for him of net 74.
Closely following behind was Keith Bellamy on 75, off 15, beating David Baxter, off 18, on count back.
Division Two saw some high scores in windy conditions, Dale Pettitt eventually winning, scoring a net 77, off 25, beating Alan Smith, off 25, on count back, with Graham Dexter back in third with 78, off 21.
The club have been very successful in the first two rounds of the Mail on Sunday’ trophy.
In the first round there was a winning margin of four and half to a half against Priors Hall at home.
Peter Barker won 5 & 4, Gordon Knox won 5 & 4, Don Lambert won 2 & 1, John Fursdon won 7 & 6, and Graham Ball halved his match.
In the second round, the same winning margin was achieved at home to Scraptoft, but no scores were at hand at the time of going to press.
