Nine proved the magic number for Stamford golfer Andy Carr who struck a perfect hole-in-one at Burghley Park recently.
The club’s B team captain was playing into the wind on the ninth when his 181 yard drive sailed perfectly into the par 3 hole.
“It pitched well and I thought that must be close,” said Andy, who was one of four players taking part in a 72-hole challenge in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support at the club yesterday.
It was the first time in almost 20 years at the club, that the 10-handicapper has fired an ace.
“It was a cracking shot but you need a little luck. You could be having an awful round and still hit a hole-in-one.”
After popping a bottle of whisky on the bar for fellow members and recording his round, the 48-year-old was also eligible to join the Boss Watches H1 Club. All golfers who hit a hole-in-one this season receive a specially-commissioned timepiece from the luxury brand.
