STAMFORD Indoor Bowls League’s Monday league leaders Hotel, Barbara Romaine, Isabel and Wilf Jenner, took an early lead against Juliet, and held it for a 12-7 victory to remain top of the table.

Alpha’s Pauline Dixon, Nancy Henson and Alan Romaine are close behind, second on shot difference, after a close 13-10 match against Foxtrot.

Delta’s June Brennan, John Kilmartin and Terry Weaver also had to fight to beat Charlie 11-9 and move third in the league.

Bravo slip to fourth, beaten 10-13 by the Echo trio of George Cameron, Pat and Peter Tibbert. India’s Julian Harris, Edna Howard and Margaret Dolby got off to a flying start, taking nine shots from the first three ends to run out 19-9 victors over Lima, while Carol and Norman Brown and John Shellard took the points for Golf with a 17-8 score over luckless Kilo.

The Wednesday league’s second division saw novice team Hopefuls, Janet and Maurice Dye with Linda Glover, win their third match of the season, 13-7 against the experienced Eagles.

Lucky Seven’s Peter Herrick, Geoff Drummond and Isabel Reading took an 18-8 victory over third in division Canaries.

Eon’s Nora Holt, Edna Howard and Hazel Cotterill stay in second place by beating Take Five 18-7.

There was a shock at the top in division one, as leaders Pick’n Mix lost 6-9 to Geriatrics’ Nancy and Gerry Corby with Terry Weaver. Second placed Wakes, David Howarth, Avice Budd and Russ Needle, clung on to win 10-9 against Maltesers.

Third placed Alpha’s, Ann and Alan Chick and Don Crawley, showed their class with a 16-7 victory over close rivals Friends.
