Imogen pips her brother to club’s junior crown

IMOGEN Huxley is Rutland County Golf Club’s 2011 Junior Champion, shooting a best gross 75.

Imogen just outpaced her twin brother to win the title but Ollie, who came in with a gross 76, managed to claim best net with 62.

The Paylor brothers, Jordan and Josh also played to a high standard with Jordan sharing gross runner-up on 76 and Josh taking 2nd nett with 88-22-66.

Champion, Imogen just missed out on category 1 status with a new handicap of 5.6.

l The Autumn Am-Am marked the official end of summer time with a full entry of members and visitors taking advantage of unseasonally warm and dry conditions.

Visitors from nearby clubs as well as stalwart home members were welcomed by club captain Gerry McIntyre and many commented on the fantastic condition of the course.

A team of Greg Shelton, Adi Ward, Andy Frisby and Neil Holmes from Stoke Rochford scooped 1st prize as well as nearest pin and a share of the 2s.

Adi Ward thanked the club for an excellent day’s golf and hospitality.

Home team, Rick Collins, Chris Deakin, Mike Powell were helped into second place by Burghley Park visitor Rob King on 88 points.

Mandy Collins partnered the three Huxleys; Suzanne, Imogen and Ollie to third place on 87 points. Karen Palmer, Imogen Huxley, Greg Shelton and Rod Goss were nearest pins.

The Spring Am-Am, open to all, will take place on March 24, 2012 – details are available from club.

l THE second leg of the Seniors Winter Ringer attracted a field of 54 who also play a Stableford format at the same time.

David Wilson won division one with 39 points followed by Gerry Webb on 38 points. Mike Glenister and Rip Kirby were first and second in division two on 41 pts.

Geoff Osborne, Alan Weedon and John Mason were winners of the two from three competition on 80 points.
