North Luffeham’s opening match of the season, against Thorpe Wood, was called off due to snow but the March Medal did beat the weather.
After a long spell out with injury, Jim Ashworth returned with a net 66 to win division 1. This earned him an immediate one stroke reduction in his handicap to 12.
Peter Kelleher (off 14) finished second on countback with a net 69. He was followed by Gordon Knox who also scored a nett 69, playing off 11.
In division 2, Chris Durrant came out on top with an impressive net 65, leading to a one stroke cut in his handicap to 19. He was followed into the clubhouse by Graham Dexter scoring 73 (off 21) with Dave Crooks in third losing on countback.
l In the midweek medal for March, new member John Hastings was first with a nett 71 playing off 26.
Malcolm Hird finished second with a nett 73 (off 16), with Geoff Clyde third on countback playing off 20.
Alan Barwell leads the individual league for the members roll-up on Thursday mornings with 20 points. He is followed by Chris Lee in second and Malcolm Hird in third place.
Barwell also tops the team table, in which members gain points for being in the teams finishing in the top three, with 34 points. Ken Jones and Chris Lee follow on 25 points.
