Rutland Water is fishing well currently with anglers taking plenty of bag limits.

Buzzer fishing is at its best at the moment with good fish movement in the evenings in settled weather conditions and fish still being taken in many areas.

l Fourteen anglers fished the third round of the reservoir’s Tuesday Night Boat League series.

Keith Jones of Wittering was in winning form with eight fish for 22lb 5½oz. Paul Wild took second spot with eight fish for 21lb 1½oz including the best fish of the night at 4lb 6½oz. Chris Evans was third with seven fish for 16lb 9oz.

l Nine pairs fished the second leg of the popular five round Rudder Match on Saturday.

Peter Harradine took the best fish at 5lb 12½oz and Aidy Naylor the best brown at 2lb 4oz.

Results: 1st John Wotherspoon and Ziggy Lesiakowski 16 fish for 46lb 13oz; 2nd Graham Pearson and Al Owen 16 fish for 45lb; 3rd Rick Broom & Mick Atkinson 16 fish for 38lb 13oz; 4th Jim Watts and Martin Hearth 16 fish for 35lb 9oz.

Eyebrook Trout Fishery

Almost 900 trout were caught at Eyebrook last week, taking the season’s total to 7,974.

The fishery will host a regional heat for Fishing For Heroes on Saturday. To take part in this fundraising match call Eyebrook Fishing Lodge on 01536 772930.

The winner will qualify for a grand final at Dever Springs in November.
