Stamford Town RFC recorded their biggest win of the season on Saturday, beating Northampton Mens Own by a mammoth 88-10.

Dan McFaden scored a hat-trick of tries on his debut and Will Mardling joined him with a treble.

Tom Gulland, Ethan Moss and Oli Story each added two more as Stamford ran rings around the city side with Jo Allen, Austin Schwarz, Cam Park, James Green and Tom Wire each crossed over once and Mardling kicking the remaining points.

Skipper Matt Albinson said: “I don’t think they were at full strength and it became a bit of a non-event as a competitive game.

“If we are going to be critical it should have been 100 points.”

Stamford play another of the struggling sides in the Midlands 3 East (South) division, Long Buckby, on Saturday.
