Narrow lead after derby demolition

STAMFORD’s A team in the Lincolnshire Indoor Bowls League has taken a narrow two point lead at the top of the Second Division with its 135-66 demolition of local rivals Grantham.

The 16 points the team gained took them above Long Sutton, who beat Skegness but they will have to wait until February for their next fixture and a chance to extend their lead.

Stamford won comfortably on four rinks with Bob Warters’ quartet going down by three shots.

In the third division, Stamford B picked up a valuable 14 points with a 110-79 defeat of league leaders Spalding B and included players aged from 13 to octogenarians.

l TO raise funds for further refurbishments, Stamford Indoor Bowls Club will be hosting a ‘What’s it Worth?’ antiques valuation day on Friday, December 17 (noon to 4.30pm) when valuers from Batemans will assess antiques submitted by members, guests and other visitors who wish to take part.
