Phil’s victory was overdue

Phil Stubley claimed a long overdue victory on Sunday, when Oakham Angling Club fished at East Delph near Whittlesey.

Stubley was more than 4lb clear of the field with a winning bag of 43lb 4oz of carp, taken on the waggler from peg 19.

Second place went to Paul Parsons who caught only four fish, three in the last hour to weigh in a healthy 38lb 12oz from peg 6. Ian Bullimore was third from peg 17. He weighed in 38lb 9oz just, three ounces off second.

Section winners were Dave Dakers and James Daymond.

Eyebrook Fishery

More than 600 fish were caught at Eyebrook last week.

Brian Firth, of the English Disabled Fly Fishers Association caught one of the week’s biggest fish - a 4lb 3oz catch - during the group’s annual Floating Line competition.

Seaton’s Bill Clark was among the Rutland anglers to enjoy good sport at Eyebrook, taking a brace of good rainbows.
