NORTH Luffenham Golf Club held a successful Pink Peril day at the beginning of March in aid of prostate and breast cancer charities.
Ladies captain Doreen Bilsdon, and the ladies committee organised the event with 44 golfers taking part in a Stableford fourball competition which started out in extremely foggy conditions and raised more than £560.
Gents individual winner was Mark Branson with an excellent 40 points, and Judy Cade was leading lady scoring 35 points.
In the team competition, 118 points was the winning score for Brian Hone, Dave Baxter, Mark Branson and Carole Cassapi. Runners-up on 108 points were Ken Houlden, Owen Davies, Don Lambert and Geoff Clyde.
l IN the March Sunday medal, Division 1 winner was Derek Cooper with a nett 69, earning him a one point handicap reduction to 16. Runner-up was Gordon Knox with 72 (off 11) followed by Tom Little on 74 (off 11).
Division 2, winner was Dave Crooks with an excellent nett 65, also earning him a one shot reduction to 19. He was followed by Chris Durrant scoring 72 (off 21) and Dave Flynn with 75 (off 25).
l DAVE Baxter won the midweek medal for March with a nett 71. He was followed by Malcolm Hird on 72 and Owen Davies, also with 72.
l NORTH Luffenham’s run in the Mail on Sunday competition came to a shuddering halt with a 4½-½ defeat at Greetham. The Gents also lost their opening fixture to a strong Thorpe Wood team by 5-0.
