Rutland Water hosted the two-day final of the Anglian Water Airflo International last week.
Welsh team Nymph-a-Maniacs put in an outstanding performance to transform last year’s team bronze into gold at the 30th anniversary of the competition.
Twenty four teams of anglers from all over Europe had qualified for the final and set a rod average of 4.1 on the first day with Steve Winstone weighing in eight fish for 25lb 6¾oz.
Brighter weather made the fishing tougher on day two when top rod was Allan Hughes, fishing for Nymph-a-Maniacs, with 22lb 14¾oz to add to his first day total to set an overall top rod weight of 36lb 15¼oz.
Nymph-a-Maniacs and second-placed Rio Masters both caught 55 fish over the two days but the Nymphs edged it by almost 10lb with 132lb 5 3/8oz.
Anglian Water’s Jon Marshall said: “It gives us a huge amount of pleasure to welcome so many anglers to Rutland Water.”
