Rockets form a new club

A NEW netball club has been set up in Oakham following the success of the Rutland Rockets at the Youth Games held at Lougborough University earlier this month.

The Rockets had a ball when coaches Debbie Kennard-Kettle and Sam Griffin took three young teams to the 10th Youth Games. All three teams were pleased with their results and delighted to bring back one of the fair play awards.

Debbie, who had worked with the Rutland Schools Sports partnership, had wanted to set up a local club for some time and the Rockets will now continue to play with four different age groups.

Recruiting players from all local schools, the club meets at the Catmose College on Monday afternoons and evenings with new players always welcome. The aim is to form a local league when enough players have signed up.

Anybody interested in playing netball should call either Debbie on 07745 903897 or Sam on 07940 543290.

Training takes place at the following times: School years 5-6, 4-5pm; years 9-11, 5-6pm; years 7-8, 6-7pm and adults 7-8pm.
