Rockets U14s fire into the national finals

Rutland Rockets U14 netball team have reached the national finals after coming runners-up in the East Midlands regional tournament.

The Rocket’s girls started strongly beating Hucknall Kimberley 10-4, they then faced Fenland where they struggled to compete with their speed leading to a draw 9-9.

Rutland picked back up and went on to beat Long Eaton 16-8 and Futureprint 7-4.

They won their group and went on to play local rivals Charnwood in the semi-final.

The Rutland girls produced some brilliant netball to win 11-8.

Rutland then faced the Derbyshire team Allestree in the final.

It was a tense game, and Allestree maintained composure throughout, despite Rutland making numerous turnovers they were unable to convert, narrowly losing in a nail biter 10-8.

However at a brilliant day of netball Rutland Rockets and Allestree both earned passage through to the national finals in Newcastle on 
May 22 and 23.
