Injuries are taking their toll on Oakham Rugby Club who will be glad to have a week off this weekend.

Player-coach Tom Armstrong, who was injured in training last week, was missing seven regular players when the Oaks lost 17-14 at Leicester Forest last Saturday.

Martyn Stimson scored Oakham’s only try, going over from a perfectly worked line-out routine, and James Harrison added nine points from penalties. The Oaks led until close to the end of the match when Forest scored a late try to condemn Oakham to their third loss in four in the league.

Armstrong said: “They had a lot more possession than we did. We were holding them out rather than attacking.”

The Oaks’ next test is at home to leaders Coalville on October 20.
