Women’s rugby team the Deeping Devils are calling on anyone interested in trying out the game to get in touch.

Based at Deepings Rugby Club in Deeping St James, the team were promoted last year to National Championship South East North One league, under captain Gemma Hempstead.

They have continued training through the summer so preparations for the new season are already well underway.

New team captain Amy Tinn said: “We attracted 10 new players during this last season, many of whom hadn’t played rugby before.

“We are delighted with the success of the team and everyone has worked so hard to get us promoted.

“Our training has continued throughout the summer, to ensure we are match fit and really ready for the new challenges.

“We are always on the look out for new players.

“We welcome ladies aged 18 years and over, no matter whether or not they have played rugby before, and will support them with our twice weekly training sessions.”

The training sessions are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.45pm.
