MEMBERS of Deeping St James Angling Club fished the second round of the Deepings Individual League Series on Sunday.
Fishing their stretch of the River Nene at Wansford it was a match of two halves.
The anglers in the low numbers couldn’t manage a bite between them but from the higher numbers, winner on the day from peg 17 was Andy Wilson with an 8lb 1oz net of quality roach to a pound.
Andy fished the pole at 8m with maggot over groundbait.
Second, using his favourite whip and maggot method, was Stuart Redman with 5lb 13oz from peg 12. Jason Wilmer was third with 4lb 7oz from peg 11, also using a whip and maggot approach.
Before the match Russell Hole kindly donated a bottle of vintage port for the angler catching the biggest fish. He then went on to win his own bottle of port with a 1lb 1oz skimmer bream.
The club’s next match is a sweepstake on New Year’s Day with the venue still to be announced.
