Sue Ker won Greatham Valley’s Ladies Medal Winners competition on Sunday to add to her impressive collection of title in 2012.

Sue, who won the July Medal and the Dryden Salver for the best net score in the Ladies Championship picked up her latest trophy with a net 72 on a cold and breezy Lakes course.

Players in the competition were all part of an exclusive club that had each won a medal during the season.

The 21-handicapper was 11 over on the front and 10 over on the back to come home with a net 72.

She had a slight lapse on the fourth when she touched the ball during her practice putting stroke and incurred a penalty shot but recovered well.

Sue, who has dropped four shots off her handicap during the year, was followed by Gilly Grant, playing off 10, who had a fantastic front nine.

Gilly was just three over with a gross 39 but intermittent rain made the back nine tougher and she finished with a gross 86, net 76.

County player Emma Tipping, off two, was third. Emma was only one shot over her handicap after 17 holes but thanks to visiting one of the two lakes at the 18th, ended her round with a net 77.

Scratch handicapper Sophie Beardsall won the lowest gross with a 78.

Round two of the winter order of merit was also played on Sunday when the weather kept scores low.

Steve Anderson struggled on his approach but more than made up for it with a flurry of single puts once on the green. He came in with 39 points to take the win and 50 points towards the order of merit.

Michael Fish came home with 38 points for second place on countback, beating George Brand who had 23 three points from the front nine but made a mess of the 18th, to finish with a six.

Both players received cuts to their handicaps.

Steve now leads the order of merit table with 51 points. Round one winner Trevor Smith is second on 50 and Steff Dutton, with 36 this week, is in third with a total of 41.

Michael Fish moved up to fourth on forty one points, he pushed Ted Burke who was second in week one into fifth.
