Bourne teenager Theo Edwards has rounded off a great year with a gold and bronze medal at the East Midlands Youth Championships.
Theo Edwards only began fencing a year ago but the 15-year-old achieved one of the best results of his short career when he won the U17 foil event at the championships held at Mansfield.
Theo then quickly changed his kit, and weapons, to take part in the U17 épée event, where he secured his second medal of the day, this time a bronze for joint third place.
The Bourne Grammar School pupil joined the Custodians Fencing Club in Spalding where he first took up the foil. He then added épée to his repertoire last December, joining the Oundle, Peterborough and Stamford (OPS) Épée club where he is coached by former Commonwealth medalist Chris Howser.
He has also been called up for the East Midlands Cadet Squad who train at Nottingham Trent University throughout the year.
