Have your say

Twelve brave Toft Golf Club ladies withstood appalling weather to compete for the Smith Salveran annual trophy competition for 55-plus players.

Undaunted by the conditions, Marie Davenport produced a runaway total of 39 points to bag first place with a grand score of 22 on the outward nine holes and 17 on the back nine.

In second place was lady captain Helen Roscoe on 33c/b putting Lorraine Robinson third also on 33. Marie’s handicap was consequently cut by two much to her delight.

After winning the Toft qualifying first round, Helen Roscoe and Cathy Lee progressed to the regional final of the national Marie Curie Classic competition held at Oulton Hall Golf Club near Leeds. Their score of 38 points put them in a very creditable fourth place, the winning score being 42.

Helen and Cathy were pleased with their performance on the back nine holes and felt they had represented the club with their efforts.

Results: Weekday Stableford: 1 Pat Key 37 points; 2 Geraldine Moss 32; 3 Marie Davenport 31
