AS the Stamford and Rutland League season approaches its conclusion, three teams remain in the race for the Division 1 title.
Hampton have drawn level on points with MTTG A following a 9-1 victory at two-man Bourne B. Ray Aballe and Dave Rowell showed little sympathy for the Bourne side, and Rod Hatton complemented their full-houses with two wins of his own.
However, with a full squad at their disposal, Bourne B prove a tricky team to overcome. They hosted Braunston B and secured an 8-2 win, with Brian Spittlehouse and Trevor Carter unbeaten, and Ray Tong a two-time winner.
Uffington CC B caught up some matches this week, but suffered three defeats. They picked up points against Nomads and high-flying Tallington A but failed to score against the experienced Braunston B squad. Bill Seese, Cedric Phillips and Vic Hoffman inflicted the 10-0 whitewash for Braunston.
Tallington A tested their promotion credentials against Uffington CC A but the cricketerswon defeating the villagers 9-1. Although Braunston have games in hand, it seems that the title will be decided between last season’s relegated teams, Uffington CC A and Bourne C.
