BOURNE B have taken advantage of a quiet week to strengthen their hold on second place in the Stamford and Rutland Table Tennis League’s first division.
They won 9-1 against Uffington CC A. Trevor Carter and Ian Castle both won their three singles matches. Brian Spittlehouse chipped in with two wins, and joined Ian to secure the doubles point.
The top teams in Division 2 continue to win. Braunston B retain top spot after a 7-3 win at Bourne D where David Smart and Bill Seese led the way with three wins apiece. Dennis Atkinson secured two further points.
The two form players in the division are MTTG B’s Nicki Farrell and Andy Johnson whose points moved their team into second place.
At the foot of the table, Tallington B won the deciding doubles rubber to complete a 6-4 win against Stamford Queen Eleanor. Jake Showler was unbeaten for the villagers, while Ollie Bullimore won twice. Kane Williams replied with two for the school, but it wasn’t quite enough.
