Rutland Men’s 1st 5

March Town 2nds 1

RUTLAND Men’s 1st XI recorded their fourth consecutive win at the top of the Men’s East League 3NW Division.

Last Saturday’s opponents March Town were determined not to concede, getting men behind the ball and packing their defence.

Rutland stroked the ball around looking to exploit any gap, however, it took the best part of the first half before Rutland managed to break the deadlock.

In the second half, however, Rutland began to put together some faster breaks, extending their lead to 5-0 and comfortably taking the game before easing off and conceding an unnecessary goal in the last five minutes.

Rutland’s 2nds, playing in the same division since last season’s promotion, beat City of Peterborough 4ths 4-2.

Rutland Ladies 1st team was due to play Cambridge Nomads but the opposition were unable to play, conceding the fixture and handing Rutland a 3-0 win.

The Ladies 2nds game was postponed due to an unplayable pitch.
