Rutland Running and Triathlon Club’s Zoe Smith competed in the Olympic-distance Belvoir Triathlon on Saturday.

Competitors from all across the country took on the 1.9km swim, 50-mile cycle, and 13.1-mile run with Zoe the sixth woman to cross the line and third in her age group.

She clocked a total time of 4h53m in her first race of the season, which doubled as the British Middle Distance Championships for 2013.

Smith said: “The competition was strong due to the championships. The course was tough, with a hilly, three-lap bike route and a four-lap run course.”

Fellow Rutland club member Martin Gordon-Kerr was also at Belvoir Castle and completed the course at the weekend, taking part in the shorter Little Beaver race and finishing in 2h59m35.
