Rutland-based line-up to compete in National Superstock series
A dynamic new motor-racing team based in Rutland is aiming to take the National 1000cc Superstock series by storm.
The team has been put together by Lyddington-based Chris Cunnington of Cunnington Property Developers and is the culmination of a long-held ambition.
Boasting two high calibre exciting riders in Joe Collier and Luke Hedger, CPD Kawasaski – backed by Corby Kawasaki for the 2019 Season – is going all out for the title in their first year.
Chris explained: “I have waited for some time for the right riders to come along to launch a top-class team.
“I couldn’t be more delighted to have secured Joe and Luke for our inaugural season. They share my passion and have the skills and determination it takes to win, so you can understand my excitement for the coming series.”
Collier took third place in the 2018 National 1000 Superstock class in the British Championship in his rookie year.
From taking his first podium place at the tender age of six in his first ever motocross race, he is no stranger to success, amassing a huge collection of trophies over the following years.
His transition from the dirt to tarmac in 2008 has seen him replicate that success year on year and he believes the all-conquering Kawasaki ZX-10RR package will be the perfect ingredient for him to go on and clinch the title.
Hedger won the Monster Energy Motostar Cup and Championship in 2012 and was National Superstock 600 Champion in 2013.
Inspired by his father’s love of bikes, he too was an early ‘star’ on the track after finishing second overall in the Junior Lights Minimoto Championship 2006 in his first year and to date is the only rider to win their debut race in any class at BSB.
He is looking forward to testing in Spain in February next year and to getting out onto the track for first round of British Superbikes.
